3. How We Share Your Information
Public Information
MyEchoes is designed to share content based on location:
- Echoes you create are visible to other users within your chosen broadcast radius
- Your username and profile photo are visible on content you create
- Circle content is visible to circle members (public circles) or approved members (private circles)

We use trusted third-party services to provide our Service, including cloud infrastructure for authentication, data storage, file storage, and push notifications.
Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

4. Data Retention
We retain your information as follows:
- Account data: While your account is active
- Echoes and content: Until you delete them or we remove them for policy violations
- Direct messages: Until the conversation is deleted
- Push notification tokens: Until you log out or uninstall the app
Content You Delete
You can delete any echo, comment, circle, or any other content you've created at any time. When you delete content:
- It is immediately removed from public view
- Other users will no longer see it in their feeds or searches
- We retain a private record for safety and compliance purposes (such as investigating harassment reports)
Account Deletion
When you delete your account:
- Your profile is removed and you can no longer sign in
- Your username on any remaining content is replaced with "[deleted]"
- Your profile photo is removed from all content
- Your circles are suspended
- Your direct message threads are closed
Similar to other social platforms, we retain anonymized records for platform safety. This allows us to investigate abuse reports and maintain community integrity. If you prefer to remove specific content entirely before deleting your account, you can manually delete individual echoes and comments first.
5. Your Choices and Rights
Manage Your Content
- Edit or delete your echoes, comments, and messages in the app
- Leave circles at any time
- Update your profile information
Location
- You can deny location permissions, but this limits core functionality (echo creation and discovery)
- Location is only accessed when you actively use location-based features
Notifications
- Manage notification preferences in the app settings
- Disable push notifications through your device settings
Delete Your Account
- Delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Or contact us at info@myechoes.app to request deletion
- Account deletion takes effect immediately
- Before deleting your account, you can manually delete any echoes or comments you want completely removed
Access Your Data
- Contact us to request a copy of your data
6. Data Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted over encrypted connections
- Security rules restrict data access
- App authenticity verification
- Authentication required for sensitive operations
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
7. Children's Privacy
MyEchoes is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us immediately at info@myechoes.app and we will delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our service providers operate. By using MyEchoes, you consent to this transfer.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- Posting the updated policy in the app
- Updating the "Effective Date" above
Your continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
